Direct messages on the social media platform X (previously Twitter) face widespread criticism due to security problems and the large number of annoying messages, especially since Elon Musk acquired the platform in 2022, and a large number of users expressed their dissatisfaction with the increasing unwanted messages, whether from automatic calculations or penetration accounts.

Despite these challenges, direct messages remain an essential component of user experience, as they are used to communicate or interact with companies, but it seems that the X platform has decided to take a radical step by canceling the current system, and starting developing a new alternative bearing the name XChat.
So far, the fine details about the nature of Xchat or its launch date have not been revealed, however some expectations indicate that it may be an independent application similar to the Facebook “Messenger” application, with the addition of new features such as a full encoding of conversations.
Some users believe that canceling the current system without a ready alternative may be a technical risk, especially in light of the increasing criticism of the current administration.
Since receiving the platform management mask, the X platform has witnessed a series of major changes, starting with the imposition of fees on the blue documentation badge, and the return of previously banned accounts, to changing the name and logo of the platform.
These combined changes contributed to fueling a state of anger and frustration between users, which was clearly reflected in the reactions to a modern technical publication of the expert Warronic, who reopened the debate about the effectiveness of the platform management and the fate of its basic tools.
