A coordination meeting between the Ministry of Electricity and Water Affairs and the Bahrain Space Agency to discuss ways of joint cooperation

Within the framework of strengthening integration between government agencies and activating the memorandum of understanding signed between the two sides; The Ministry of Electricity and Water Affairs held a coordination meeting with the Bahrain Space Agency, to discuss the prospects for joint cooperation in a manner that supports the strategic goals of both parties, and contributes to achieving Bahrain’s vision aimed at promoting sustainable development and technical innovation, and employing artificial intelligence in government projects and initiatives.

The delegation of the Ministry of Electricity and Water Affairs, Eng. Qahtan Mohamed, Acting Director of Energy Efficiency and Regional Cooling Department, was chaired, while the delegation of the Bahrain Space Agency, Professor Ruya Boubchit, head of the laboratory of data analysis and satellite images.

During the meeting; Engineer Souad Khalifa, a first spacecraft analyst, reviewed a number of applied models for projects implemented in various sectors, while highlighting the possibility of employing them in the energy sector to enhance the efficiency of natural resources management and renewable energy, and to face environmental and climate challenges.

For his part; Engineer Mubarak Adnan Al -Ahmad, a renewed energy engineer in the ministry, made a presentation on national plans and existing initiatives in the energy sector and the progress made in them, while discussing the most prominent challenges related to monitoring these initiatives, and the possibility of employing satellite data and artificial intelligence technologies to provide innovative solutions that support effective monitoring and follow -up operations of projects.

This cooperation is a qualitative step towards establishing a national model for the integration of space data with the vital sectors, in order to enhance the state’s efforts in achieving sustainable development goals and implement strategic plans efficiently and effectively.
