The Municipal Council of Muharraq received a response from the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Agriculture regarding the recommendation made by the Council earlier on the increase in the number of tanks of wastewater suction in Muharraq Governorate.
The response issued by the Undersecretary for Municipal Affairs, Sheikh Mohammed bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, stated that the Ministry is currently coordinating with the Ministry of Works regarding the expansion of the establishment of sewage networks in areas that are not currently connected within the scope of Muharraq Governorate, as it is the best procedure to provide wastewater drainage service.
He added that the ministry is awaiting providing it with a plan from the municipal council that includes the needs of the regions regarding the establishment of sewage networks.
In this context, members of the Muharraq Municipal Council expressed their dissatisfaction with the continued lack of water suction tanks, where the representative of the eighth district, Muhammad al -Muqawi, said: “We suffer a lack of water suction tanks in the 111st complex, and we need a greater number of sewage tanks, and we demand an increase in the number to meet the needs of people.”
For his part, the representative of the sixth district, Fadel Al -Oud, said: “We are demanding an increase in the number of sewage tanks, but what we receive from the responses of government agencies is a mockery of the Muharraq Municipal Council, because they are not convincing and not acceptable at all.”
The Municipal Council affirmed that it will continue to follow up on this vital file, to ensure the provision of basic services to citizens in various regions of the governorate.
