Major General Imad Kadwani, Governor of Minya, held a meeting to discuss the system of receiving the local wheat crop for the new season for the year 2025, in the presence of Eng. Abdel Basset Abdel Naeem, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Supply, Eng. Heidi Kamal, Director of Agricultural Reform and representatives of the bodies marketed for wheat, including the Egyptian Silos Company, Middle Mills Company, the Egyptian Agricultural Bank.
During the meeting, the governor discussed all the procedures related to the supply season, which started yesterday, Sunday, April 13th, noting that the price of the Ardab supply from local wheat this year may be determined at a value of 2200 pounds, which is an encouraging price for farmers and exceeds the price of imported wheat, which reflects the state’s keenness to support Egyptian farms and achieve self -sufficiency in wheat as a basic strategic commodity.
The governor also discussed all solutions and proposals to overcome any obstacles that the suppliers may face, stressing that all necessary measures are taken to facilitate supply operations, and to pay suppliers dues within 48 hours in addition to the good treatment of suppliers and to meet their demands and determine the degree of purity for wheat, in the presence of suppliers and providing equipped and accredited receipt sites, with the continued daily follow -up to ensure the regularity and stability of the season and achieve goals The state in support of food security.
The governor reviewed the details of the plan prepared to supply the wheat crop, regarding the inventory of the spaces cultivated with wheat in all centers, amounting to about 212 thousand and 972 acres and the quantities expected to be produced to determine the target supplier, as well as focusing on implementing awareness campaigns for farmers to urge them to supply wheat crop to the state, to increase the quantities supplied from the crop.
For his part, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Supply reviewed the number of silos and cunning and assembly centers in the governorate department, and storage capacities for each of them, noting that the total receipt sites in the governorate amount to 42 sites at the level of the centers to facilitate the supply process with a storage capacity of approximately 500 thousand tons.
