Air Force soldiers are demanding to stop the war

On Wednesday, about 1,000 retired and Israeli Air Force workers published a similar message calling for an end to the war in the Gaza Strip for more than a year and a half, in exchange for the restoration of Israeli prisoners detained in Gaza.

Prisoner numbers

Tel Aviv estimates the number of Israeli prisoners in Gaza at about 59 prisoners, 24 of whom are alive. On the other hand, while more than 9,500 Palestinians are held in Israeli prisons, where they suffer from torture, starvation and medical neglect, which killed many of them according to Palestinian and Israeli human rights and media reports.

The ceasefire agreement and its fall

The first phase of the ceasefire agreement and the exchange of prisoners between Hamas and Israel ended on March 1, 2025, after it began in force on January 19, 2025. This agreement was reached by Egyptian-Qatari mediation and American support, and Hamas has committed to it.

However, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, continued from the start of the second stage of the agreement, and resumed the attacks on Gaza on March 18, 2025, in response to the far -right wing in his government, according to the Hebrew media.

Calls for immediate action

The signatories on the petition called on all Israeli citizens to demand, in all possible ways, to stop the fighting and return all prisoners now. They emphasized the importance of immediate action to achieve peace and stop military actions.

Gaza is under siege

Israel imposes a siege on Gaza for the eighteenth year in a row, and the situation has reached a horrific degree. About 1.5 million Gaza population, who numbered 2.4 million, became homeless after the war destroyed most of their homes. The sector also entered the stage of starvation due to Israel’s closure of the crossings and the prevention of the arrival of humanitarian aid.
