Professor Lulwa Saleh Al -Awadi, Secretary -General of the Supreme Council for Women, held a meeting with the Board of Directors of the Bahraini Women’s Union headed by Mrs. Ahlam Ahmed Ragab, during which the memorandum of understanding was signed between the Supreme Council for Women and the Bahraini Women’s Union to activate the mechanisms of cooperation and joint coordination between the two parties.
At the beginning of the meeting, His Excellency Professor Al -Awadi welcomed the attendees, and conveyed the greetings of Her Royal Highness Princess Sabika bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, the wife of the country of the country, the head of the Supreme Council for Women, may God protect her, and her permanent interest in activating the mechanisms of cooperation with civil society institutions concerned with women’s affairs, stressing that the relations between the Supreme Council for Women and the Bahraini Women’s Union are an integral relationship to serve Bahraini women.
Professor Al -Awadi emphasized that the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding between the Supreme Council for Women and the Bahraini Women’s Union paves the way for a new stage to activate the aspects of coordination and joint cooperation between the Bahraini Women’s Council as the authority concerned with representing the associations under it in the areas of civil action, noting the importance of forming a joint committee between the Council and the Union concerned with following up the implementation of the items of the memo.
Al -Awadi pointed to the adoption of Her Royal Highness the President of the Supreme Council for Women, may God protect her, for the national plan for the advancement of Bahraini women 2025-2026, which includes many continuous and new programs and initiatives with the council partners from the public and private sectors and civil society institutions, indicating that during the coming period the details of the national plan will be announced and its vocabulary and related areas of cooperation with civil society institutions according to the competencies of each party will be announced.
For its part, Ahlam Ahmed Ragab, President of the Bahraini Women’s Federation, indicated that Bahraini women are of the support and generous care of Her Royal Highness the President of the Supreme Council for Women, may God protect her, which reflects the interest and appreciation of the wise leadership of the role of Bahraini women, noting the role of civil society institutions in the march of Bahraini women, given the passage of more than 70 years since the establishment of the first women’s association in the Kingdom of Bahrain.
The President of the Bahraini Women’s Union welcomed the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding between the Supreme Council for Women and the Bahraini Women’s Union, stressing that the union believes in the integration of efforts between public sector institutions and civil society institutions to achieve the goals of supporting and empowering women, and through the signing of this memo, the Union will continue its efforts to achieve the vision of the Supreme Council for Women in achieving the progress of Bahraini women in all fields.
The Memorandum of Understanding provides for cooperation in the field of promoting the national model to integrate women’s needs and equal opportunities locally and in regional and international forums, and to cooperate in spreading the culture supporting women, in addition to exchanging experiences and cooperation in the fields of combating violence against women and serving family counseling, and exchange of statistics, information, studies and research in areas of common concern.
