Major General Sheikh Abdul Rahman bin Abdul Wahab Al Khalifa, Director General of the General Traffic Department, stressed that the “Gulf Traffic Week”, which falls on April 13 under the slogan “Leadership without a phone” is an important occasion to remind the importance of traffic safety, and is considered a vital station in the memory of citizens and residents for more than 30 years.
He expressed his thanks and praise for the distinguished commitment by Bahraini drivers and residents of traffic laws, which reflects the civilizational image of the Kingdom. The Director General of the General Traffic Department pointed out that the role of parents in instilling traffic culture among their children and maintaining their safety is a very important matter, stressing the need for this approach to continue to raise coming generations capable of taking responsibility starting from childhood, so that everyone becomes partners in achieving safety.
He added that this occasion emphasizes the close relationship between road users and traffic men who work alongside to enhance the principle of traffic safety, in order to preserve lives and property, which reflects the real societal partnership and contributes to promoting national sense to achieve the desired safety.
Within the framework of the community partnership between traffic men and all civil society sectors, the General Traffic Department continues to implement awareness and training programs specialized in the field of safe driving, targeting vehicle drivers and motorcycles.
Which includes the definition of the Traffic Law and its executive regulations, in addition to dangerous behaviors, the most important of which is driving while using the phone, which negatively affects the road safety and disperses the driver’s attention while driving, and the program also includes educating the participants about the importance of using safety methods such as seat belt, in addition to wearing the helmet while driving a motorcycle to reduce serious injuries resulting from lack of commitment to these preventive measures.
