Mohamed Abdel -Latif, Minister of Education and Technical Education, received the counterpart of Dr. Amjad Barham, Minister of Education and Higher Education, in the presence of Ambassador Diab Al -Louh, Ambassador of the State of Palestine to the Arab Republic of Egypt and the advisor Jihad Al -Qudra, a first advisor at the embassy and advisor Naji Al -Naji, cultural advisor, and Dr. Iyad Abu Al -Hanoud, the official of academic and research affairs at the embassy; To discuss coordination mechanisms to support the educational process in the State of Palestine.

At the beginning of the meeting, Minister Mohamed Abdel -Latif stressed that the relationship between Egypt and Palestine was never a political or diplomatic relationship, but rather a brotherly relationship and a common destiny that extends over the years, saying: “We are always with you, heart and heart, before we are partners in any official cooperation, you are part of us”, expressing all the necessary support for the Palestinian people in the field of education, and supporting the efforts of the Palestinian people in strengthening their educational system in facing challenges Current.
For his part, Dr. Amjad Barham, Minister of Education and Higher Education, expressed his deep thanks and appreciation to the Arab Republic of Egypt, leadership, government and people, headed by President Abdel Fattah El -Sisi, for their historical and continuous role in supporting the Palestinian issue, especially in the field of education.
He said: “We always feel in Egypt that we are among our people, and what Egypt offers is not strange for our brothers whom we consider our true extension.”
The Palestinian Minister of Education and Higher Education said that education for the Palestinians is not just a right, but rather a means of resistance and survival, despite the difficult circumstances that we live in light of the current challenges, and our parents always urge us to learn because it is the only way to achieve our hopes.
More than 95% of schools have been destroyed,
The Palestinian Minister of Education reviewed the extent of the destruction of the education sector in Gaza during the recent aggression, saying: “More than 95% of schools were destroyed, as 293 schools out of 309 were out of service, between complete and partial destruction, and universities were bombed, and about 85% of their buildings were destroyed … and there are more than 720 thousand students in the Gaza Strip, in addition to depriving about 700 thousand of them of their right to education.”
Virtual schools and educational centers have been established despite daily challenges
The Palestinian minister pointed out that about 20,000 Palestinian male and female students in the school stages, in addition to 4,500 university students, faced a complete interruption of education during the war, however, the ministry managed to restore the educational process through e -learning, where virtual schools and educational centers were established despite the daily challenges and changes imposed as a result of repeated displacement and continuous destruction of the infrastructure.
The Palestinian minister appreciated Egypt’s fixed and supportive position in all fields, stressing the importance of the Egyptian role supporting Palestinian education, especially in light of the continued Israeli aggression that led to a wide destruction of educational infrastructure within the Gaza Strip, and demanded the expansion of the prospects for cooperation in the fields of e -learning, secondary and technical education.
The meeting discussed the provision of additional support from the Egyptian side through the establishment of educational centers to support e -learning, especially in basic materials such as mathematics, science and languages, agreeing to open these educational centers, and allowing Palestinian teachers residing in Egypt with their families to contribute to providing educational lessons, in support of e -learning for Palestinian students inside and outside Palestine.
More than 1350 male and female students took the exam in Egyptian government schools
The meeting also touched on the successful experience of last year in organizing the high school exam for Palestinian students in Egypt, where more than 1350 male and female students presented the exam in Egyptian government schools, with full support and coordination from the Egyptian government, which had a great impact in supporting students psychologically and academically, where Dr. Amjad Barham expressed his hope to repeat the experience this year, especially since the number of applicants for the exam from Palestinian students inside Egypt is between 1800 1900 students.
For his part, Minister Mohamed Abdel -Latif stressed that the Ministry of Education is fully prepared to provide all means of support and assistance to the Palestinian Sa’da Palestine in the various fields of education and to enhance the capabilities of the Palestinian educational system to ensure that Palestinian students obtain good and sustainable education in facing the current challenges and difficulties.
