Artist Mohamed Abu Dawood stressed that art should not be reduced to being a means of material profit only, explaining that his most important role lies in being a soft power capable of positive influence in society and transferring purposeful messages.
Mohamed Abu Dawood said in televised statements: Art is not money, art is the soft power that can reach people and educate people. We do not come to offer art to destroy our children and daughters and say this is the art.
He stressed the need for artists to assume their responsibilities towards future generations, and to make sure to provide works that rise to public taste and contribute to building a real societal awareness, away from distortion or decline in values.
