Lebanese Defense Ministers Michel Mansi and the Syrian Muhtaf Abu Qasra will meet in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, today, Thursday; To discuss the control of the border between the two countries, a Lebanese official said in press statements.
The source told the French Press Agency that the city of Jeddah will host the meeting of the Lebanese Defense Ministers and Syria under Saudi auspices, and the talks will address the control of the common borders and the closure of irregular crossings.
A Lebanese official and a Syrian government source earlier revealed that the Lebanese Defense Minister’s visit to Damascus, which was scheduled yesterday, was scheduled for an unlimited date at the request of the Syrian side.
Preparations in Syria to form a new government
In his statements to the French Press Agency, the Syrian government source indicated that the visit scheduled for Wednesday was postponed, due to preparations in Syria to form a new government, as Mansi was supposed to meet his Syrian counterpart, and thus be the first Lebanese official to visit Damascus since the formation of the Lebanese government last month.
After the fall of the Bashar al -Assad regime on December 8, the Syrian -Lebanese border witnessed separate clashes, and the Syrian authorities said that some of those involved in the clashes from drug traffickers.
