Al -Akhdar had tied negatively with Japan at the 2002 Saitama Stadium, in the eighth round of the Asian qualifiers, raising its score to 10 points in third place, behind Japan, the top of 20 points, and Australia, which ranked second with 13 points.
Details of the crisis of the return of the national team
According to the newspaper “Al -Riyadiah”, a coordination error caused the delay in the arrival of the private plane, which was supposed to return the team’s mission to Saudi Arabia immediately after the match.
Some players were forced to return across the UAE and Qatari Airlines because of their association with local matches, while the official mission will return through a different plane that will start on Wednesday.

Through his account on the “X” platform, Muhammad Al -Duwaish wrote sarcastically:
“The ambition of the Saudi national team is no longer a return to competing with Japan. Rather, the ambition has become a return from Japan!”
He added: “These things happen even though the budget is a billionaire.”
