Representative Ahmed Al-Salloum, Chairman of the Financial and Economic Affairs Committee in the House of Representatives, affirmed that the approval of the state’s general budget project for the two financial years (2025-2026) is considered a qualitative achievement of the legislative and executive authorities, and its effects will be clearly reflected on the financial and economic sustainability of the Kingdom, and improving the standard of living of citizens.
Al -Salloum said that the approval of the budget with a great consensus decreased its counterpart in the last legislative chapters, where the project received great consent from the deputies, it is a positive indication of the state of close cooperation between the legislative and executive authorities, which enhanced and crystallized through the transparency approach that the esteemed government followed in informing the deputies of all the details, numbers, statistics and financial indicators.
In this context, Salloum thanked the esteemed government led by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince, Prime Minister, for its great keenness on constructive cooperation with the legislative authority, as we witnessed a great state of openness to all views and proposals, and the design of an ambitious budget that keeps pace with variables and responds to challenges and looks forward to achieving the aspirations of all citizens.
Al -Salloum emphasized that the success of the House of Representatives in discussing the budget project and consensus with the government team at a record speed, but came in light of the directions and follow -up from His Excellency His Excellency the Speaker of Parliament Ahmed bin Salman Al -Muslim, who was keen to be always present in all deliberations, discussions and consultations, and keen to make sure to formulate understandings and consensus between the two authorities in a way that achieves the desire of the representatives of the people to reach To an ambitious budget that leads to developing government services and achieving a decent living for citizens.
He praised the exerting and exceptional leadership efforts made by His Excellency the Minister of Finance Sheikh Salman bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, starting with the joint preliminary meetings that formed a precedent in terms of state budget discussions and its great role in paving the road and reaching the desired consensus, especially in light of the great flexibility and understanding of the minister’s Excellency and a wide understanding of all visuals, observations and ideas that the deputies put forward.
Al -Salloum thanked all the deputies who were keen to be the budget project in their maximum priorities by handing out their views and proposals, and thanked the members of the Financial and Economic Affairs Committee for the great efforts they made during intensive and long meetings during the last period, and also thanked all the General Secretariat crew for their exceptional efforts in the work supporting the committee.
Al -Salloum affirmed that during the discussion of the state’s general budget project, the financial committee worked hard to push all the views and proposals that contribute to improving the standard of living of citizens, advancing economic growth, creating promising job opportunities and launching qualitative programs that contribute to developing capabilities and increasing the competitiveness of the citizen in the labor market.
Al -Salloum said that the general budget project for the new state included allocating huge budgets unprecedented to the education, health, housing and infrastructure sectors, as it included allocating about 800 million dinars in partnership with the private sector to build approximately 50 thousand housing units, in the context of the priority that the deputies set by providing appropriate housing for citizens and accelerating the pace of completion of housing projects.
He pointed out that the budget project has allocated more than 1.5 billion dinars in favor of the item of “financial involvement for citizens”, which is an unprecedented number in terms of budgets allocated to government support, noting that the support budget in the new budget project has allocated about 596 million dinars in favor of the living improving bonus for retirees, as it included an increase in an increase for all retirees by 40 dinars.
Al -Salloum concluded his statement, that the budget project came in light of sincere national efforts that put its eyes to harness all the capabilities and experiences to reach a budget that guarantees the sustainability of national development paths and achieves a decent living for citizens.
