In the year 2018 AD, in cooperation with the United Nations Women’s Authority, the Princess Sabika Bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa International Award was launched in the end of the lofty vision of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, the monarch of the country, may God protect and preserve him, and with the support and support of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince, Prime Minister, may God protect him, and the launch of the award coincides with this year in its third edition with the celebrations of the Kingdom of Bahrain. Which is a global platform for stimulating innovation and creativity in the field of empowering women, and contributes to encouraging institutions and individuals to formulate programs and initiatives supporting women and enhancing their role in various sectors, and enhancing their position as a pioneering model in supporting women’s rights and achieving gender equality, as well as honoring the efforts of pioneering women globally, and inspiring future generations to continue the march of excellence and creativity, which confirms the Kingdom’s commitment to encourage efforts and endeavors The relevant by the United Nations member states, stimulates countries to participate, to review the best successful experiences, qualitative initiatives, and advanced practices that contribute to strengthening the center of women and enabling them to contribute to building a balanced society that achieves gender parity, and enhances women’s chances of leadership and active participation in sustainable development.
I am taking this important global occasion, to praise the role of the Supreme Council for Women, led by Her Royal Highness Princess Sabika bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, as a role model in adopting the best policies, and the assistance of programs that support women, extracting successive success stories, starting from those who read, learned, participated, and advanced to contribute Bahraini women with efficiency and competence in building the country and its rise and prosperity The assembly of the council is highlighted as an experienced house to record an active and influential role at the national and international levels.
I recall with pride and pride in the efforts of her Highness, may God protect her, to lead the Supreme Council for Women since its foundation on August 22, 2001, starting with the launch of national policies to enhance equal opportunities, ensure women obtain their full rights, and adopt programs to raise the level of women’s participation in the labor market, including support for women’s entrepreneurship, and enhancing the role of women in leadership positions, contributing to the development of supportive legislation for women, to ensure a fair work environment And equal.
It is worth noting that the Supreme Council for Women has a pivotal role in implementing Bahrain’s national strategy for women’s empowerment, enhancing the role of women in development, following up the implementation of the principle of equal opportunities in governmental and private institutions to ensure justice and gender equality, and to follow up on economic empowerment through programs to support small and medium enterprises to ensure stability and social security, and cooperation with international organizations, such as the United Nations, to enhance Bahrain’s role in global efforts To empower women.
The memory is due to the launch of the first edition of the International Her Highness Award for Empowerment of Women in 2018, where a number of institutions and individuals who made prominent contributions in the field of empowering women were honored, in which the winners expressed their gratitude to Bahrain and their international experience in supporting women, stressing the importance of the award in encouraging more women’s projects and initiatives around the world, and in the second edition in 2022 AD of the award, everyone witnessed wide international interest, where The geographical scope of the participants expanded and their projects and their initiatives diversified, which confirms the importance of this Bahraini initiative, which was launched to the world to highlight the success stories of institutions and individuals in strengthening women’s progress at the global level.
The launch of the third edition of the award came this year 2025 AD, to complete the march of the Kingdom of Bahrain towards strengthening the role of women and empowering them in various fields, and confirms the Kingdom’s commitment to support global efforts to achieve gender equality and empower women and girls all over the world.
