The Kingdom of Bahrain launched the “Al -Mundhir” satellite, the first moon to be fully designed and developed inside the Kingdom, from the Vandenberg base in California, the United States of America.
Al -Mundhir aims to localize space techniques and enhance Bahraini capabilities in this field, as it is the first of its kind in the region in terms of employing artificial intelligence to analyze space images directly on board, despite its small size.
The satellite underwent strict tests in regional and international specialized facilities to ensure its ability to withstand the harsh space environment and work efficiently after the launch. It was launched on the Falcon 9 missile, in a move that represents a scientific and technological achievement for Bahrain.
Engineer Youssef Al -Qattan, the space engineer, safety official, integration and test of the satellite, stressed that the Bahraini team faced many challenges during the process of developing “Al -Mundhir”, but he managed to overcome them thanks to joint efforts and accurate tests to ensure the success of launch and operation.
