On the sidelines of participation in the Sirawik 2025 International Energy Conference in Houston, Texas, USA, Eng. Karim Badawi, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, met with Lorenzo Simonieli, CEO of Baker Hughes International, where the meeting reviewed the company’s work in Egypt and its role in enhancing technological progress in the oil sector, by improving the efficiency of petroleum operations, and providing advanced engineering and technical solutions to the fields Naval in deep water.
Drilling and well -repair activities in the Mediterranean
During the meeting, Bakra’s officials reviewed the latest technological developments in the fields of excavation and production, highlighting the growing momentum of drilling and well -repair activities in the Mediterranean during the past six months, and the successful discoveries achieved in different areas in the Mediterranean, which reflects the promising capabilities of this region in supporting Egypt’s production of natural gas.

For his part, Eng. Karim Badawi stressed the importance of the role of Baker Hughes as a strategic partner in implementing the development of marine fields in Egypt, noting that the ministry seeks to accelerate the pace of exploration and production, and benefit from modern digital solutions in improving operational performance, and enhancing the sustainability of production processes.
The two sides agreed to continue joint coordination to enhance the use of advanced technological solutions, which would accelerate the development of marine discoveries and put them on the production map, in order to enhance the Ministry’s efforts to add new quantities of natural gas to production.
