The Gulf Statistics Center revealed that joint Gulf work achieved growth in the tourism sector, by achieving average growth in the number of tourists who travel between the countries of the Cooperation Council by 41% during the period 2019-2023, at a time when the center’s expectations indicate the arrival of the sector’s contribution to the Gulf economy to 371.2 billion dollars by 2034.
During the period 2019-2023, the tourists between the Cooperation Council countries formed 26% of the total international tourists coming to the region in 2023, while the rates of tourism contribution in the GDP reached about 11% in 2024.
According to the center’s data, the percentage of the contribution of the tourism sector in the gross domestic product reached 11.4% in 2024, an increase of 31.9% compared to 2019, which will raise the volume of economic contribution to 247.1 billion dollars.
According to the center’s expectations, the sector’s contribution to the Gulf economy will reach 371.2 billion dollars by 2034, and estimates indicate that growth of 11.4% during 2024.
The report emphasized that facilitating the movement between the GCC countries using the national identity card contributed to strengthening the movement of Gulf tourism, in addition to expanding tourism visas.
