The Wall Street Journal revealed the steps that US government officials intend to take during the coming period against the Deep Seek model, within the framework of protecting personal data after many government members expressed their dissatisfaction because of the threats this model poses on national security, especially with regard to its dealings with sensitive information and citizens’ data.
According to the report issued by the American newspaper, government officials emphasized the start of prohibiting automatic conversation applications that use Deep Seek from the application stores completely, in addition to imposing strict restrictions on cloud services providers to prevent them from providing the model to customers, for fear of storing data insecure on servers in China.
A team of 21 public prosecutors from the American states before Congress also presented a draft law stipulating the prohibition of using the Deep Seek model or any attempt to download it on government agencies.
Deep Seek
Axios published a report last January stating that the US Congress banned the Deep Seek application and prevented its use by employees, and the application is still not authorized to use it within the House of Representatives.
A report issued by the Trump administration officials also confirmed that the Deep Seek model works to fix harmful applications that threaten national security, and is spying on citizens, and therefore the move to prohibit its use in all government institutions came as a measure to protect user data.
