Minister of Transportation: Developing the meteorological system with third -generation satellite technologies

His Excellency Dr. Abdullah bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, Minister of Communications and Communications, affirmed the Ministry’s continued efforts to support the meteorological system with high -quality technologies to improve the accuracy of climate predictions and weather conditions, in order to enhance the security of air and sea navigation, and to serve the vital sectors in light of the comprehensive development process led by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, the king of the country, may God protect and preserve him, and continuous follow -up from the owner Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince, Prime Minister, may God protect him.

The Minister, on the occasion of the completion of the Ministry’s Meteorological Department, expressed the installation of the third generation satellite reception receivers and data, his pride in the fact that the Kingdom of Bahrain is the second country at the level of the Arab Gulf region, this system is applied most advanced in the field of weather control, and enhancing its accompanying of various climatic challenges with high accuracy, effectiveness and quality.

His Excellency the Minister of Communications and Communications added that the implementation of this new system comes within the framework of the Ministry’s commitment to developing the meteorological system infrastructure in accordance with the latest technologies and the highest international standards, according to the government’s directions headed by His Royal Highness the Crown Prince, the Prime Minister, may God protect him, and in line with Bahrain Economic Vision 2030.

For his part, Mr. Khaled Hussein Yassin, Director of Meteorological Department at the Ministry of Communications and Communications, explained that the new generation of satellites is characterized by its advanced capabilities to take high -resolution images and analyze weather conditions with a resolution of up to 0.5 km, with the update of data every 15 minutes.

He stressed that this step puts the Kingdom of Bahrain at the forefront of regional countries that benefit from the latest technologies to enhance disaster management, improving the prediction of dangerous weather conditions, such as cumulative clouds, dirt storms, thick fog, and issuing early warnings that contribute to taking preventive measures to protect lives and property, promote public safety, and air and sea navigation security.

He pointed to the start of the Meteorological Department Operations Center to receive additional data from other satellites covering the American and Atlantic areas, the continent of Asia and the Pacific, which contributes to providing broader and more comprehensive coverage and providing more accurate and detailed data on weather and climate conditions, and then support the rapid response efforts of weather changes and contribute to enhancing the safety of air and sea navigation.
