The Drinking Water and Sewerage Company in Luxor announced the completion of the work of a linear repair of a sanitation of a diameter of 1000 mm and 700 mm in the Al -Hamzi area in Al -Habil, on the fifth day of the crisis that started last Wednesday, February 26, 2025.

This came in the presence of Eng. Abdel Muttalib Amara, Governor of Luxor, Dr. Sayed Ismail, Deputy Minister of Housing, alongside Eng. Mamdouh Raslan, President of the Holding Company for Drinking Water, Dr. Salah Bayoumi, Vice President of the Holding Company, and Major General A.H. Engineer Ahmed Mohamed Ramadan, President of the Luxor Water Company.

Sunday morning, March 2, 2025, Dr. Sayed Ismail, Deputy Minister of Housing, made an inspection tour of the business site accompanied by a high -level delegation that included Dr. Mohamed Hassan, head of the organizational system for drinking water and sanitation, Engineer Tariq Al -Rifai, Associate Minister of Housing for Utilities Affairs, Major General Amin Shawky, Chairman of the National Authority for Drinking Water and Sewerage, and Engineer Youssef Helmy, Head of the Central Administration for the implementation of South Upper Egypt. The visit aimed to follow up the finishing touches of the reform work that restored life in the region.



5 days of water hell: sewage leak
Over the course of five days, Luxor and its environs lived under the weight of an unprecedented water crisis, as the leakage of two main sewage expulsion caused a diameter of 700 mm and 1000 mm in a complete interruption of water. The crisis described it as “the worst water tragedy” witnessed in the city for decades, which sparked widespread dissatisfaction with the population before efforts were crowned with the end of the reforms today.
