The Egyptian Dar Al -Iftaa received a question received by one of the citizens: Is it permissible to break the fast depending on the astronomical account? I reside in one of the European countries, and Muslims in it depend on proving the months of the Hijri year on astronomical calculations, and there is no one who explores the crescent, so what is the ruling on breakfast in this country based on the astronomical account without verifying the visual vision of the crescent?
The house said on its official website in a previous fatwa: There is no objection to the breakfast of Muslims in the European countries – and in other countries that do not explore the crescent – depending on the astronomical account, if it is certain that the presence of the crescent is on the horizon.
Ruling on relying on astronomical account to see the crescent of Ramadan
The house continued: The beginning of the lunar month was established by seeing the crescent, and it is surveyed in the sunset on the twenty -ninth of the month before it.
And she continued: If there is something that prevents the vision of the crescent, the jurists differed in the estimate of several days the month thirty or twenty -nine days, and the reason for this: their difference in the meaning of the estimate contained in the words of the Prophet, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him and his family, regarding the month of Ramadan: You see it, for if you are overwhelmed by you, then be able to do it. You saw him, and they break it, for if you are overwhelmed, then appreciate it. ”
