A cultural salon to celebrate the fiftieth anniversary of the departure of the East Planet Umm Kulthum in Port Said

The General Authority for Culture Palaces, headed by Major General Khaled Al -Laban, continued to present a number of artistic and cultural events within the celebrations of the Ministry of Culture, the fifty years since the departure of the Arab singing lady, Planet of the East Umm Kulthum.

In this context, the College of Specific Education in Port Said witnessed a cultural salon organized by the Port Said Culture Branch in cooperation with the University of Port Said, under the supervision of Dr. Ahmed Al -Ruby, Dean of the College of Specific Education, and the coordination of Sherine Al -Amir.

The meeting was started with a speech by Dr. Hossam Jamal Al -Din, Head of the Department of Musical Education, in which he dealt with the march and upbringing of the Arab singing lady, noting that she was born on December 31 in the village of Tama in Dakahlia Governorate.

Her artistic career began at an early age by singing at concerts and religious occasions accompanied by her father, Sheikh Ibrahim Al -Sayed Al -Beltagy, then moved with him to Cairo, where she developed her talent at the hands of the great musicians, composers and poets in Egypt and the Arab world, such as Muhammad Al -Qasbaji, Riyad Al -Sanbati, Muhammad Abdel -Wahab, Bayram Al -Tounsi, Abu Al -Saud Al -Abyari, and among the young poets Ahmed Rami.

He pointed out that after the 1952 revolution, Umm Kulthum became one of the prominent national figures, due to the national songs she presented expressed the feelings of the Egyptian people.

For his part, Dr. Mohamed Farouk, a teacher in the media department, explained that Umm Kulthum chose the lyrics and melodies of her songs, and had a great impact in the Arab world and even in the West, where she performed concerts in Paris, and inspired many artists.

He also indicated that she was the first captain of the musicians, and continued her artistic career until the late 1960s, and after being exposed to a number of health problems, she retired from singing in 1971, and devoted to her personal life until she left our world on February 3, 1975, leaving an indelible imprint in the history of music and singing.

At the end of the meeting, the technical team from the College of Specific Education, the Department of Music, presented a set of songs for the East Planet, Umm Kulthum, amid the interaction and admiration of the attendees, the cultural salon was held within the activities of the Canal region and Sinai Cultural, under the direction of Dr. Shuaib Khalaf, Director General of the region, Under the supervision of the Medal of Al -Azouni, Director of the Port Said Culture Branch.
