The Shura Council approved the report of the Public Utilities and Environment Committee on a draft law amending Article 33 of Decree Law No. 20 of 2002 regarding the regulation of hunting, exploitation and protection of marine wealth and prepared in light of the proposal of the law submitted by the House of Representatives.

The decision of the committee, Juma Al -Kaabi, pointed out that the draft law aims to tighten the penalties contained in the decree of a law, based on what was stated in the constitution, that “the state takes the necessary measures to maintain the environment and preserve the innate life.”

The Minister of Oil and Environment, Muhammad bin Dinah, stated that the draft law was agreed upon by the legislative and executive authority, indicating that this is the direction of His Highness the Prime Minister to reach a joint work that corresponds to the two authorities.
