US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said on Thursday that the potential meeting between US President Donald Trump and his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin, will be largely dependent on whether any progress can be made to end the war in Ukraine.

The US Secretary of State confirmed that he discussed such a meeting when he met Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on Tuesday.
He said to Alfrouf and Russian officials: There will be no meeting until we know what the meeting will address.
The US Secretary of State said in an interview with journalist Catherine Herridge broadcast on X channel: I think the date of this meeting will be largely dependent on whether we are able to make any progress on ending the war in Ukraine.
