The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques adopts the symbol of the Saudi riyal, in order to enhance the Kingdom’s financial identity

The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, adopted today, the symbol of the Saudi riyal, in a historical step aimed at enhancing the identity of the national currency.

The Governor of the Saudi Central Bank, “Sama”, Mr. Ayman bin Mohammed Al -Sayyari, raised; Thanks and appreciation to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and His Royal Highness Prince Muhammad bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, on the occasion of the launch of the Saudi riyal currency.

He explained that the generous decision contributes to enhancing the Kingdom’s financial identity at the local, regional and international levels, pointing out that the start of work by applying the currency code will be directly; Provided that it is reflected in the financial and commercial transactions and various applications gradually, in coordination with the official authorities with specialization.

He pointed out that this initiative aimed at encouraging pride in national identity and cultural affiliation, highlighting the position of the Saudi riyal and enhancing confidence in it, and showing the Kingdom’s position within the major global economies and the G20 countries, will highlight the growing importance of the role of the national currency in the global financial system.

Professor Al -Sayyari praised the relentless efforts that contributed to achieving this achievement, expressing his appreciation to all the parties participating in the project led by the Saudi Central Bank to adopt the national currency code, including the Ministry of Culture, the Ministry of Information, and the Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Authority.

The national currency symbol – which was designed with the highest technical standards – embodies the Kingdom’s culture and ancient heritage, where the symbol carries the name of our national currency “Real” with a design inspired by Arabic calligraphy, and will enhance the symbol of the representation of the Saudi riyal in the local, regional and international context; What makes it suitable for use in referring to the Saudi riyal in all financial and commercial transactions.

At a time when the Kingdom continues to achieve the Kingdom’s 2030 vision, the launch of the Saudi riyal code strengthens the importance of the Kingdom’s financial system and its growing itself at the regional and international levels.
