The Sharm El-Sheikh International Youth Theater Festival, headed by the artist Mazen El-Gharbawy, announced the names of the winners of the Youth First Work in Directing Competition, known as Director Essam El-Sayed, which is one of the most prominent festival competitions dedicated to discovering and supporting young directing talents.

The first place was won by “Director Mahmoud Abdel Wahed” from Giza Governorate for the show “The Readymade Clothes Factory,” and the first place was won by “Director Lubna Al Mansi” from the Cairo Governorate for the show “The Last Floor,” and the second place was won by “Director Mohamed Ayman Mohamed” from the Alexandria Governorate for the show “Good Boys Deserve Kindness,” and the second place was won by “Director Abdullah Saber” from the Cairo Governorate for the show “Right in the First North” and the place Third place is directed by Khaled Fathi Al-Sayed from Giza Governorate for the show “Island of the Blind,” and third place is repeated by “director Mohamed Farid Fouad” from Cairo Governorate (Alexandria) for the show “Rashomon.” The competition’s jury consisted of: artist Mufid Ashour, artist Rania Farid Shawqi, and artist Mido Adel.
The Sharm El-Sheikh International Youth Theater Festival is held under the auspices of the Egyptian Ministry of Culture, headed by Professor Dr. Ahmed Fouad Hanno, the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities, headed by Minister Sherif Fathi, and the Egyptian General Authority for Tourism Promotion, headed by Engineer Ahmed Youssef, in confirmation of the state’s support for cultural events that highlight the cultural face of Egypt and enhance its position on the global tourism map, within the framework of the integration of the cultural and tourism dimensions to serve comprehensive development goals.
The festival also enjoys the full support of the South Sinai Governorate, led by Major General Dr. Khaled Mubarak, within the framework of cooperation between national institutions to achieve integrated cultural and tourism development, and with the golden sponsorship of the National Bank of Egypt, the Ain Artistic Production Company, and the Dhofar Municipality in the Sultanate of Oman.
The tenth session is directed by Dr. Angie El-Bastawi, and the session bears the name of the great artist Elham Shaheen in honor of her rich artistic career and continuous support for theater and arts issues, while the festival’s Supreme Committee is headed by producer Hisham Suleiman, and the honorary presidency of the festival is the late lady of Arab theater, Samiha Ayoub.
