Bahrain Bourse hosts “The Market 2.0” about digital transformation in financial markets

Under the patronage of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, may God protect him, the Bahrain Stock Exchange is hosting “The Market 2.0” conference, in cooperation with the Arab Capital Markets Federation, on November 20 in the Kingdom of Bahrain, under the slogan “Digital Transformation in Financial Markets.”

The conference aims to shed light on the role of technological developments in developing financial markets, enhancing the principles of sustainability and expanding the scope of financial inclusion, through a platform that brings together an elite group of decision-makers and experts in this field.

The conference is expected to attract more than 300 participants and 18 speakers from senior representatives of stock exchanges, financial market regulatory bodies, brokerage companies, financial institutions and technology solution providers, to discuss strategic issues, most notably developing capital markets, enhancing liquidity levels, and raising the global competitiveness of financial markets in the Kingdom of Bahrain, in addition to reviewing the role of innovation and experimental regulatory environments (sandboxes) in supporting digital transformation.

The conference activities will begin with an opening speech by Mr. Yousef Al-Yousef, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Bahrain Stock Exchange, with the participation of an elite group of regional and international speakers. A first session will be held to discuss ways to strengthen the capital market system in the Kingdom, with the participation of Mr. Khalid Ibrahim Humaidan, Governor of the Central Bank of Bahrain, followed by a session on technological transformations in the financial landscape, with the participation of a number of CEOs of regional stock exchanges.

On this occasion, Mr. Yousef Al-Yousef expressed his sincere thanks and appreciation to His Royal Highness the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, may God protect him, for sponsoring the conference, noting that this sponsorship embodies the government’s keenness to support the financial markets sector and enhance its vital role in the national economy, by adopting policies and initiatives that are in line with the goals of sustainable development and the Bahrain Economic Vision 2030.

He explained that the Kingdom’s hosting of this conference reflects its leadership position in the financial markets sector, and its commitment to enhancing regional and international dialogue on developing the legislative and regulatory structure of financial markets, which contributes to exchanging experiences, applying best practices, and supporting the government’s efforts in establishing an attractive and sustainable investment environment.

For his part, Sheikh Khalifa bin Ibrahim Al Khalifa, CEO of the Bahrain Stock Exchange, stressed that the financial markets are witnessing a qualitative transformation phase characterized by the accelerating pace of digital transformation and the strengthening of regional integration between stock exchanges and brokerage companies, noting that the “The Market 2.0” conference represents an effective platform for translating targeted dialogues into implementable strategic visions that contribute to achieving sustainable growth and greater global competitiveness.
