
Engineer Wael bin Nasser Al-Mubarak, Minister of Municipal Affairs and Agriculture, announced the launch of the Bahraini Farmers’ Market in its new season, in partnership with the National Initiative for Agricultural Sector Development and STC Bahrain, on Saturday, November 29, 2025, to continue until February 14, 2026, at the Budaiya Botanical Garden, with the participation of an elite group of Bahraini farmers, local brands, and artisans.
The Minister noted the great support that the agricultural sector receives from His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, the great king of the country, may God protect and preserve him, as a fundamental pillar for enhancing food security, through His Majesty’s emphasis on the importance of improving the food security file and consolidating the foundations of its sustainability, which the government translated into its program in accordance with the directives of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, may God protect him, in order to develop the agricultural sector and encourage the private sector. To invest in it.
Al-Mubarak praised the fruitful partnership with the National Initiative for the Development of the Agricultural Sector, headed by Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, wife of the King of the country and Chair of the Advisory Council of the National Initiative for the Development of the Agricultural Sector, may God protect her, because of her active role in regulating the market and enhancing its sustainability.
He also expressed his appreciation for the prominent role played by the private sector, represented by stc Bahrain, which provides continuous support to the market, in order to enhance its role in serving the local product and developing the agricultural system.
The Minister explained that the market in its current season includes 32 local farmers, along with a number of agricultural companies, nurseries and apiaries, in addition to craft activities, productive families, educational and entertainment programs for children, in addition to restaurants and cafes that enrich the general experience of visitors. He pointed out that the goal of the farmers’ market is to enhance local agricultural production by providing a direct marketing platform that connects farmers with consumers, which contributes to encouraging them to diversify their products and create new varieties that meet the needs of the local market.
For her part, Sheikha Maram bint Isa Al Khalifa, Secretary-General of the National Initiative for the Development of the Agricultural Sector, confirmed that the continuous support that the agricultural sector receives from His Majesty the King of the country, may God protect and preserve him, represents the basic foundation for the development of local agricultural production projects, noting the directives of His Royal Highness the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, may God protect him, aimed at providing the necessary facilities to develop this sector and enhance its sustainability.
She indicated that the continuous follow-up of Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, may God protect her, contributed to advancing the development of the agricultural sector and enhancing its production efficiency, pointing out that the Bahraini Farmers’ Market has become a prominent platform that attracts thousands of visitors from inside and outside the Kingdom, which reflects the public’s confidence in national agricultural products and enhances the market’s position as a distinguished marketing destination for Bahraini farmers. She also noted the ongoing partnership between the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Agriculture and the initiative in implementing farmer support programs, stressing the importance of enhancing the participation of the private sector in these development initiatives.
In the same context, Eng. Khalid Al-Osaimi, CEO of stc Bahrain, stressed the company’s constant keenness to support the Bahraini farmers’ market annually, noting that this partnership reflects the company’s commitment to achieving sustainable development and supporting the local community.
