Under the patronage of Dr. Mohamed Hani Ghoneim, Governor of Beni Suef, and in implementation of the directives of Dr. Ahmed Mustafa, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the General Authority for Health Insurance, the work of the Joint Committee was launched at the Al Salam Clinic affiliated with the Crescent Building for Specialized Medical Centers, for the first time within the scope of the governorate, in a qualitative step aimed at developing the system of specialized medical services and reducing the burdens on patients without the need to travel to other governorates.
Launching a specialized committee to treat joint diseases at Al Salam Health Insurance Clinic
Dr. Mohamed Yahya Ismail, General Manager of the Beni Suef Health Insurance Branch, explained that the committee includes an elite group of doctors and consultants specializing in the fields of orthopedics, internal medicine, anesthesia, and physical therapy, including Dr. Imad Al-Banna, orthopedic consultant, and the membership of: Dr. Moataz Soliman, Dr. Mohamed Sayed Gouda (orthopedic specialists), Dr. Wael Fathi (anesthesia consultant), Dr. Manar Abdel Gawad (physiotherapist), Dr. Jamal Taha (internist consultant), and Dr. Mustafa. Abdul Hamid (orthopedic resident and committee rapporteur).
The committee holds its sessions weekly on Mondays to evaluate cases suffering from joint diseases or cartilage erosion, and determine their need for surgeries to install or replace artificial joints, in accordance with approved medical standards.
The committee’s tasks include conducting a clinical examination, reviewing medical examinations and x-rays, and determining the type of artificial joint appropriate for each case, in addition to careful follow-up after surgery according to a timetable that includes follow-up stages after a week, two weeks, 3 months, and 6 months to ensure the success of the operation and achieve the best therapeutic results.
The committee also relies on a unified documentation system for medical files that ensures continuity of care and follow-up of cases at various stages of treatment, in cooperation between the medical, nursing, and physical therapy departments.
Dr. Hala Salah El-Din, Director of the Medical Affairs Department, confirmed that the establishment of the Joints Committee at Al-Salam Clinic comes in implementation of the directives of the General Authority for Health Insurance aimed at bringing specialized services closer to citizens within the governorates, noting that the committee represents a qualitative leap in the level of medical service in Beni Suef, by evaluating cases within the governorate without the need to transfer them to external centers, which contributes to the speed of diagnosis and the accuracy of medical decision-making before surgery.
