The crisis that broke out between the Spanish Football Federation and FC Barcelona has recently come to a head due to an injury Lamin Yamal The Catalan team player, which prevented him from participating in the El Matador roster during the current international break.

How long will the crisis between Barcelona and the Spanish Federation over Yamal last?
The beginning was when Yamal suffered an injury in one of his matches with the Spanish national team before the last international break, and Barcelona rejected Luis de la Fuente’s request to have the player join the list last September. The Spanish team announced Yamal’s injury hours after the announcement of the Spain national team list, which included the presence of the player’s name.
The aim of preventing the player from participating at that time was to give him an opportunity to continue his physical fitness in Barcelona, so that he would not join the Spanish national team and continue his rehabilitation.
The matter did not stop there. Rather, this situation angered Flick, who accused the Spanish national team’s technical staff of not caring about the player, who arrived at the Spanish national team’s camp carrying a medical report showing the extent of his suffering.
Many statements exploded among officials at the time, as the Spain coach was one of the most prominent officials who spoke about the matter, saying: We must give matters their importance. Flick’s statement should not be more important than Spain’s decisive match to qualify for the 2026 World Cup, and Lamine Yamal will not play a single minute if he is not ready.
Indeed, Yamal did not participate with the Spanish national team after the announcement was made in an official statement published by the Spanish Football Federation, confirming that the player suffers from an injury in the pubic area that will prevent him from playing.
Barcelona intended to repeat the same thing during the current international break, to prevent the player from participating with the Spanish national team, as the Spanish Federation did not expect that Barcelona would push the player to undergo surgery at the time when the national team camp would begin, so the Federation issued a statement confirming the player’s absence without prior notification from the club.
The Spain coach also appeared again and spoke about the never-ending crisis between the two parties, saying: I am shocked. I have never gone through a situation like this before, and I do not think it is normal at all. Everyone is surprised.
It is clear from this that Barcelona has escalated the conflict with the Spanish Football Federation, in a way to protect its player from any injury with the Spanish national team, at a time when Flick needs all of his players to return to the top of the Spanish League table, and compete in other competitions, the most important of which is the European Champions League.
