The price of a gram of gold rose by about 35 pounds over the course of Tuesday’s trading, benefiting from the global rise of the precious metal.
The price of a gram of 21 carat gold rose from 5,485 pounds this morning to 5,520 pounds on Tuesday evening.
The price of a gram of 18 karat gold increased from 4,701 pounds to 4,730 pounds, an increase of 29 pounds.

Gold continued its gains today, Tuesday, and recorded its highest level in about three weeks, supported by expectations that the possibility of ending the US government shutdown may restore the flow of US economic data before the Federal Reserve (the US central bank) reduces interest rates expected next month.
Gold rose in spot transactions by 0.3 percent to $4,126.77 per ounce by 2013 GMT, after it had previously recorded the highest level since October 23, according to Reuters.
US gold futures for December delivery rose 0.1 percent to $4,116.30 an ounce upon settlement.
Gold, which does not generate returns and is considered a safe haven, tends to rebound in light of low interest rates.
“Traders believe (the data) will show some weak economic numbers, and that will prompt the Federal Reserve to cut interest rates in December… This will likely encourage bulls in the gold and silver market today,” said Jim Wyckoff, senior analyst at Kitco Metals.
