Informed sources revealed that Pope Tawadros II, Pope of Alexandria and Patriarch of the See of Mark, will make a pastoral visit tomorrow, Wednesday, to the Church of the Virgin Martyr St. George on Khamaroya Street in Shubra Misr, on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the founding of the church.

The sources explained to Cairo 24 that the scheduled visit comes within the framework of the celebration of the centenary jubilee of the church, which is considered one of the oldest Orthodox churches in the Shubra region, noting that the Pope will preside over a prayer of thanks and the members of the church will participate in the celebrations of this historic occasion.
The sources confirmed that preparations have been in full swing since this morning, noting that the church has witnessed, during the past hours, extensive preparations inside and outside it, in preparation for receiving the Pope and his accompanying delegation.
Earlier, Pope Tawadros II received at the papal residence in Cairo yesterday, Monday, Catholicos Mar Basil Mar Thomas Matthews, Catholicos of the Malankara Indian Orthodox Church, and his accompanying delegation.
During the reception, the Pope welcomed His Holiness the Catholicos and his companions, then took him on a tour of the papal residence during which he visited the Church of the Archangel Michael and the Museum of Gifts, before a joint session was held under the chairmanship of the Pope and His Holiness the Catholicos, attended by delegations of the two churches.
