Deputy Prime Minister Sheikh Khalid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa affirmed the Kingdom of Bahrain’s keenness to strengthen its relations with the friendly Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka, and to work to develop areas of cooperation to serve the common interests of the two countries, praising the continuous development of the existing ties between them.
He noted the government’s interest in enhancing aspects of cooperation with all South Asian countries, including Sri Lanka, in a way that contributes to achieving mutual development and expanding partnership opportunities in various fields.
This came during a meeting in his office this morning with Her Excellency Ms. Shirin Shanika Dissanayake, Ambassador of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka to the Kingdom of Bahrain, where His Excellency welcomed her and congratulated her on her appointment as her country’s ambassador to the Kingdom, wishing her success in her duties in a way that contributes to strengthening the path of cooperation between the two friendly countries.
During the meeting, he praised the contributions of the Sri Lankan community and its role in supporting the development process witnessed by the Kingdom of Bahrain in all sectors, in light of the safe work environment that the Kingdom has created for all.
They also reviewed aspects of economic and trade cooperation between the two countries, the growth witnessed by the relations in the volume of trade exchange, and the importance of continuing joint work to expand areas of cooperation in the tourism and food security sectors.
For her part, Shirin Shanika Dissanayake, Ambassador of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka to the Kingdom of Bahrain, expressed her thanks and appreciation to His Excellency the Deputy Prime Minister for the warm reception, praising the support and mutual interest enjoyed by the relations between the two countries, wishing the Kingdom of Bahrain further progress, development and prosperity.
