Lebanese media reported that the son of the late Libyan president, Hannibal Gaddafi, paid the financial bail, as procedures for his release from the place of his detention are being completed today, without specifying the destination.
Agence France-Presse reported on November 6 that the Lebanese judiciary agreed to reduce the value of the financial guarantee for the release of Hannibal Gaddafi, son of the late Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi, from $11 million to $900,000.
Early this month, the Libyan National Unity Government stated that a government delegation visited Lebanon carrying a message from Abdul Hamid Dabaiba to Lebanese President Joseph Aoun. Sources reported that “the Libyan delegation handed over to Lebanon the investigations conducted in recent years into the case of the disappearance of Imam Musa al-Sadr and his two companions in Libya, and agreed to reduce Hannibal Gaddafi’s bail.”
For its part, the official follow-up committee on the issue of the disappearance of Imam Musa al-Sadr and his two companions confirmed that the Libyan delegation present in Lebanon had handed over a copy of the papers that constitute the investigations they conducted regarding the issue of the disappearance of the Imam and his two companions.
It is noteworthy that Hannibal, who is 49 years old and married to a Lebanese model, was arrested in December 2015 by the Lebanese authorities on charges of “withholding information” regarding the case of the disappearance of the Lebanese scholar Musa al-Sadr and two people who were with him during a visit to Libya on August 31, 1978, when his father assumed power while Hannibal was only two years old.
