Today, the Shubra El-Kheima Criminal Court, First Circuit (Appellant), is considering the completion of the trial of those accused of killing a child in Shubra El-Kheima in the case known in the media as the “Dark Web Case,” due to the presence of the first accused from his prison cell.
The decision to postpone the previous session of last month came in response to the requests of the defendants’ defense, who requested the assignment of a five-member committee to examine some technical documents related to the case, and to extract an exact copy of Case No. 16352 of 2024, the beginning of Amriya, registered as No. 1048 of 2024, Total Dakhila felonies in Alexandria, due to its connection to the incident under investigation.
The defense also requested permission to extract a certificate from the Egyptian Interpol investigations that includes the date of the second accused’s return to the State of Kuwait and the date of his arrest, attaching a copy of the arrest warrant issued against the accused, in addition to a copy of the petition submitted to the Public Prosecutor, and requesting verification of the authenticity of the document that was submitted during the first appeal session today.
They demanded that the forensic doctor be summoned to attend the next session to ask him about what was stated in the victim’s autopsy report.
The decision was issued under the chairmanship of Counselor Fawzi Yahya Abu Zeid, and the membership of Counselors Diaa El-Din Abdel-Moneim Shawqi, Hussein Rushdi Hussein, Ahmed Shawqi Abdel-Latif, and Islam Muhammad Abu Al-Nasr, and with the secretariat of Helmy Mahmoud.
The session came after the previous ruling of death by hanging for the first accused, and 15 years of aggravated imprisonment for the second accused. The two accused appear before the court today in the first stages of appealing the ruling, which shook public opinion due to the horrific and shocking details the case contained.
The details of the incident go back to the absence of a child named “Ahmed Muhammad Saad,” who was 15 years old, from his home for four days, before the security services found his lifeless body inside a rented apartment in the first district of Shubra al-Kheima in Qalyubia Governorate. He showed signs of a longitudinal incision from the lower abdomen to the neck, with some of his entrails taken out and placed in a bag next to him, in a shocking scene that shook the corners of the region.
Investigations revealed that the defendants lured the victim to one of them’s apartment under the pretext of offering him a gift, then drugged him with medical drugs, and strangled him with a leather belt until he died, before they began extracting his internal organs to sell them through the “Dark Web” network in exchange for huge sums of money.
The Public Prosecution referred the accused:
The first, “Tariq Anwar Abdel Motagli,” 29 years old, a café worker and resident of Al-Jamea Street, from Ahmed Orabi Street, Shubra Al-Kheima, and the second, “Ali Al-Din Muhammad Ali,” 15 years old, a student residing in the State of Kuwait, were brought to criminal trial in Case No. 9800 of 2024, felonies, First Division, Shubra Al-Kheima, registered under No. 1287 of 2024, South Benha District.
The referral order stated that the first accused deliberately and premeditatedly killed the child victim at the instigation of the second accused, in exchange for 5 million pounds, as they determined to carry out the crime, prepared its tools, including medical drugs, a knife, and a leather belt, and carried out the crime according to the drawn up plan.
The referral order also indicated that the crime was coupled with another felony, which was kidnapping the child by deception, as the first accused lured him to his residence under the pretext of offering him a gift, then killed him and stole his organs.
The referral decision also indicated that the second accused participated in instigating, agreeing and assisting in the crime, as he provided his partner with data on the drugs that were used to drug the victim, and coordinated with him the implementation details in exchange for the agreed-upon amount, so that the crime was completed as revealed by the investigations.
