Bahrain’s female players take part in a friendly “Al-Jisr” match

The Women’s Committee of the Bahrain Tennis Federation held a joint friendly tournament with the Tennis Association in Dhahran, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, under the name “Causeway Clash Tennis Tournament,” with the participation of girls under 14 and 16 years old, as well as female trainees within the evening training program, at the association’s stadiums in Aramco City in the Eastern Province.

On this occasion, Jamila Al-Nashaba, Chair of the Women’s Committee and Member of the Board of Directors of the Bahrain Tennis Federation, confirmed that organizing this joint friendly tournament comes within the framework of cooperation and coordination between the Bahrain Tennis Federation, headed by Sheikh Abdulaziz bin Mubarak Al Khalifa, and the Dhahran Tennis Association, headed by Steve Paglieri, with the aim of strengthening women’s sports relations, exchanging visits and experiences, and getting to know new players, in addition to providing the opportunity for the players to gain more experience and skills, within an enthusiastic and competitive atmosphere.

Al-Nashaba pointed out that the tournament is the first cooperation between the Federation’s Women’s Committee and the Dhahran Tennis Association, as the tournament was coordinated and the levels for the players were fixed in advance within two groups, the first for girls under 14 and 16 years old, and the second for women, which included two levels for beginners and the intermediate category.

Al-Nashaba pointed out that the Women’s Committee, within its plans during the coming period, which enjoys the support of His Excellency Sheikh Abdulaziz bin Mubarak Al Khalifa, President of the Federation, is organizing a women’s tournament at the end of this November, which is open to all levels of girls and women, in addition to holding joint matches for beginners with local and Gulf club teams.

On the other hand, Mr. Steve Bagleri, President of the Association, presented a memorial shield to the Women’s Committee, in appreciation of its efforts in establishing sporting activities that support and enhance the role of women and promoting women’s activity within the Bahrain Tennis Federation.

The Bahrain Tennis Federation, represented by Jamila Al-Nashaba, Head of the Women’s Committee, and Ms. Nayla Al-Mir, member of the committee and member of the Board of Directors of the Bahrain Tennis Federation, also presented a memorial shield to the Dhahran Tennis Association for hosting these joint friendly matches, and for their honorable reception of the Bahrain Tennis Federation’s female players.

Mr. Steve Baglieri, President of the Dhahran Tennis Association, his deputy, and Mrs. Zara Zein, expressed their welcome for holding this tournament and communicating with the women’s committee in order to revitalize women’s sports and hold such friendly competitions that achieved their goal by creating an enthusiastic and competitive atmosphere that encourages playing tennis, in addition to the distinguished participation of girls from Bahrain and Saudi Arabia.

The girls’ team included: Salma Faraj Allah, Layal Basil, Gharam Issa, Haneen Salah, while the women’s group included: Nayla Al-Mir, Jamila Al-Nashaba, Sharifa Al-Ghurair, Aisha Al-Fadil, Maryam Al-Nawakhatha, Dina Al-Rifi, Fatima Jaafar, Alaa Al-Mukharq, Rudayna Al-Alawi, and Medina Abdullah.

At the conclusion of the tournament, the Bahraini delegation expressed its sincere thanks and appreciation to the Dhahran Tennis Association for its warm welcome, warm reception and generous hospitality, wishing for repeated joint communication with the women of Dhahran. The women of Bahrain also extended their thanks to the Chairman and members of the Board of Directors of the Bahrain Tennis Federation and the Federation’s Women’s Committee, for their continued support of women’s activities, wishing to continue holding these activities targeting girls and women, which will help them improve their skills in the game.
