The Royal Medical Services and the US Central Command sign a memorandum of understanding to enhance medical cooperation

The Royal Medical Services of the Bahrain Defense Force (RMS), represented by Brigadier General Sheikh Fahad bin Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, Commander of the Royal Medical Services, signed a memorandum of understanding with the US Central Command (CENTCOM), represented by Colonel Larry McCord, Commander of the Surgery Department at the US Central Command, a memorandum of understanding aimed at strengthening medical cooperation between the two sides.

This memorandum comes within the framework of supporting areas of research and training cooperation, and enabling national cadres to benefit from the advanced medical expertise provided by visiting doctors, in addition to providing medical facilities affiliated with the Royal Medical Services to provide the highest levels of care for American cadres, which contributes to raising the efficiency of medical services in the Kingdom.

Brigadier General Sheikh Fahad bin Khalifa Al Khalifa stressed that the signing of the memorandum of understanding represents a new stage in the long process of cooperation between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the United States of America, and a strategic step towards developing international cooperation in the medical field. He expressed his happiness and appreciation to Colonel Larry McCord and Commander Derek Chamberlain for their sincere efforts in turning this initiative into reality, stressing that the close relations between the two countries based on cooperation, trust and friendship embody a common commitment to peace, security and the well-being of peoples, and reflects Both sides were keen to develop the partnership to serve common humanitarian and medical goals.

He added that the launch of the Medical Cooperation Program – Bahrain embodies the spirit of the existing partnership, by expanding it to include the vital field of military medicine, where medical teams from both sides will work side by side to exchange experiences, enhance preparedness, raise the efficiency of responding to crises, and save lives. He also stressed that this initiative reflects the values of professionalism, sincerity, and compassion that distinguish medical personnel in the armed forces, and opens new horizons for learning, innovation, and sustainable friendship, in a way that enhances the health and readiness of members of the armed forces, and supports the building of an advanced medical system based on knowledge. and international cooperation.

For his part, Colonel Larry McCord expressed his pride in participating in this occasion, which embodies the strength of the partnership between the United States of America and the Kingdom of Bahrain, noting that the launch of the Medical Cooperation Program – Bahrain represents a new and important chapter in the process of military cooperation between the two countries, and reflects the depth of the established strategic relationship extending for more than seven decades of friendship and mutual trust, stressing that this program is the first of its kind in the Middle East with the aim of enhancing medical readiness and exchanging experiences between military medical teams from both sides, which contributes to developing joint capabilities. To respond to crises and humanitarian missions, stressing that the health and safety of members of the armed forces represents the basis of success in any military mission.

He also expressed his aspiration to continue cooperation through joint training and research programs, adding that this initiative embodies the spirit of partnership and mutual respect, and constitutes living evidence of the strength of the friendship between the United States and the Kingdom of Bahrain.

The memorandum of understanding signing ceremony was attended by a number of leaders and heads of hospitals and medical centers affiliated with the Royal Medical Services and their assistants, in addition to senior officials and directors from both sides.
