Today, Sunday, the May 15 Criminal Court will hold the first trial session of a young nurse after she deliberately set fires inside seven intensive care rooms at Helwan General Hospital, in one of the strangest cases whose horrific details were revealed by investigations.

The investigation authorities appointed Circuit 4 of the Criminal Court on May 15 to examine the case, which was No. 33 of 2025, Helwan College Investigation No. 1893 of 2025, Helwan College. Investigations were conducted under the supervision of Counselor Hisham Raafat, the first general attorney for the Helwan College Prosecution.
The details of the incident are due to the Civil Protection Operations Room of the Cairo Security Directorate receiving an urgent report from the administration of Helwan General Hospital, stating that a limited fire had broken out inside the hospital’s intensive care department.
Fire and rescue forces moved in, supported by a number of fire engines. A wide security cordon was imposed around the hospital, and evacuation paths were allocated to ensure the transfer of patients to safe areas inside the building.
