On Friday, the waters adjacent to the Bahrain National Museum witnessed the conclusion of the open water swimming competitions for the cubs (the heritage cub swimmer), as part of the activities of the eighth edition of His Highness Sheikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa’s marine heritage sports season, with the participation of about 80 swimmers from various regions of the Kingdom, including a number of foreign residents who added a distinctive competitive character to the race. The competitions were full of excitement and competition over two different distances, with the first category allocated for ages 12 and over. to 15 years for the 400-meter distance, and the Ukrainian swimmer Taimur Noureddine was able to achieve first place with a time of 04:49.73 minutes, while Jassim Muhammad Harban came second with a time of 04:53.16 minutes, and Hussein Adel Al-Banna came third with a time of 04:56.17 minutes. As for the second category for ages 16 to 17 years for the 600-meter distance, swimmer Adam Hussein Muhammad snatched first place. With a time of 07:29.35 minutes, ahead of Issa Khaled Abdulaziz, who came in second with a time of 07:40.68 minutes, while Abdul Rahman Mustafa Al Khaja came in third place with a time of 07:53.09 minutes. The organizing committee confirmed that the race was held in ideal marine conditions and under the direct supervision of the marine rescue teams, the Coast Guard, the Civil Defense and the Royal Medical Services, in application of the highest standards of public safety. The organization of this event comes within the framework of the goals of the His Highness Season Sheikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa Marine Heritage Sports, which aims to instill a culture of marine sports among young people and encourage them to practice them in a safe and organized environment, based on the fact that they are an integral part of the national heritage and Bahraini identity rooted in the depths of the sea.
