Al-Ahly club’s first football team striker, the international player Abdullah Al-Hashash, is still waiting for him to be invited back to join the ranks of the first national football team, despite the distinguished levels he is performing this season in the Al-Ahly club shirt, and his temporary top spot in the scorers’ standings with 7 goals after only seven rounds of first division competitions in the 69th edition of the Nasser bin Hamad Premier League football competition.
The last time Abdullah Al-Hashash Al-Ahmar played in the 2023 AFC Asian Cup finals, which was hosted by the Qatari capital, Doha, in January and February 2024. He is seeking the opportunity to rejoin the national team’s roster in its next gathering, which is expected to begin, in preparation for the international friendly match against the Somali national team, which will be the final rehearsal before facing its counterpart, the Djibouti national team, scheduled for November 26 in the qualifying stage for the group stage of the Arab Cup. FIFA 2025, which will be hosted by Doha from December 1 to 18 of this year.
Al-Hashash, who stole the show with his high scoring abilities and smart movements inside the penalty area, contributed directly to the series of positive results achieved by Al-Ahly this season, scoring decisive goals that made him one of the most prominent stars in the league in the past rounds.
In a special statement to Al-Watan Sports, the Al-Ahly star expressed his full respect for the choices of the national team’s technical staff led by Croatian coach Dragan Talajic, stressing that he puts the national team’s interest above all else, adding that he continues to work with all seriousness to achieve the dream of wearing the national shirt.
Al-Hashash said: “Joining the national team is a great honor for any player, and I am always ready to answer Al-Ahmar’s call at any time. My goal is to live up to everyone’s expectations whenever I have the opportunity. I am currently focusing on continuing to give with Al-Ahly, and I am confident that effort on the field is the shortest path to reaching the national team.”
He added, “I am certain that fair competition is in the interest of Bahraini football. I will continue to work and develop until I am included in the accounts of the technical staff in the near future.”
Abdullah Al-Hashash is considered one of the most prominent faces in Bahraini football in recent years, as he has proven himself as one of the strikers capable of making a difference with his skill, speed, and high scoring sense, which made him the focus of attention of fans and critics alike.
Al-Ahly fans, for their part, expressed their surprise at the absence of Al-Hashash from the initial list of the national team, considering that his current level makes him one of the most prominent candidates to lead the national attack line, especially in light of his remarkable brilliance against the big teams in the league.
Despite all this, Al-Hashash remains committed to calm and focus, believing that the continuity of distinguished performance will be enough to put him in the selection circle sooner or later.
