Governmental hospitals celebrate World Radiology Day

Governmental hospitals celebrated World Radiology Day, which falls on November 8th of each year, in appreciation of the pivotal role that medical imaging technologies play in diagnosing diseases and supporting the development process in the field of modern health care.

On this occasion, Dr. Hazem Al-Aali, Head of Medical Services for Surgical Departments in Governmental Hospitals, explained that the Radiology Department at Salmaniya Medical Complex includes an integrated team of doctors, technicians and nurses, and conducts more than a thousand examinations daily, including X-rays, CT, MRI and ultrasound, bringing the total examinations completed within one year to more than 269 thousand examinations.

Dr. Al-Aali pointed out that the Radiology Department at Salmaniya Medical Complex is working to reduce waiting lists for MRI examinations and speed up access to diagnostic services, thus enhancing the efficiency of the health care system and improving patients’ experience.

For her part, Dr. Jalila Al-Sayyid Adnan, Head of the Radiology Department at Salmaniya Medical Complex, confirmed that the department is witnessing a qualitative developmental shift in work mechanisms and operating plans, with the aim of accelerating appointments and improving the quality of services.

She explained that one of the most notable achievements of this year is reducing the waiting times for ultrasound and MRI examinations by half compared to last year, through implementing comprehensive development projects and restructuring work processes and scheduling appointments to ensure efficiency and sustainability.

Dr. Jalila added that these steps come within the general direction of developing the work environment and enhancing coordination between medical, technical and administrative staff, which has had a positive impact on the speed of completion and quality of diagnostic services.

She pointed out that the department has achieved distinguished successes at the level of the Arab world, represented by a number of its doctors and technicians receiving awards of appreciation in the field of research and scientific papers, which reflects the competence of the national cadres and their leadership in the professional and research fields.

She stressed that the Radiology Department continues to implement ongoing development plans for its equipment and training programs, to ensure the provision of safe and advanced diagnostic services that keep pace with the latest international standards in the field of radiology and medical imaging.

It is noteworthy that World Radiology Day is held annually on the anniversary of the discovery of X-rays in 1895, and aims to highlight the importance of this vital specialty and its pivotal role in supporting health systems and improving the quality of life.
