Mr. Abdullah Al-Rajhi, the official spokesman for the General Administration of Civil Aviation, stated that a Kuwait Airways plane was heading to the Philippines on flight No. (KU417) with 284 passengers on board. This morning, Friday, it was involved in a minor accident at Kuwait International Airport before it took off.
Al-Rajhi explained that the accident occurred at 4:24 a.m. as a result of an emergency technical defect in the braking system while the plane was moving on the airport’s ground. He stressed that the accident did not result in any injuries among the passengers or the plane’s crew, and that all passengers were in good health, while the damage was limited to a small part of the plane’s structure.
The official spokesman stated that the specialized technical teams immediately began dealing with the accident in accordance with the approved procedures, where the location of the aircraft was secured and the necessary technical checks were conducted to ensure safe operation.
He added that Kuwait Airways provided an alternative flight that left at 12:20 p.m., heading to its destination in the Philippines.
Al-Rajhi stressed that the safety of passengers and flight crews is a top priority for the General Administration of Civil Aviation and Kuwait Airways, stressing that such cases are dealt with in accordance with the highest internationally approved air safety standards.
