The Ministry of Industry announced that tomorrow, Saturday, November 8, the activities of the eighth session of the Egyptian Dates Festival will begin under the patronage of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi in the village of Mandisha in the Bahariya Oasis. The festival’s activities will continue until November 10, in cooperation and coordination between the Ministry of Industry, Giza Governorate, and the Khalifa International Award for Date Palm and Agricultural Innovation, and in coordination with the Export Council for Agricultural Crops, the Chamber of Food Industries, the Export Council for Food Industries, and the “Haya” Association for Development and Development. Horticultural Exports, and the General Union of Horticultural Crops Exporters.
Egyptian Dates Festival
This year, the festival includes the participation of 120 exhibitors from date producers, manufacturers and exporters, in addition to a number of governmental and research agencies and institutions concerned with developing the date industry in Egypt.
The festival’s activities include honoring the winners of the festival’s competition categories with the aim of enhancing the competitiveness of the dates sector at the regional and global levels, in addition to scientific seminars, art exhibitions and displays of local products, and highlighting the country’s efforts to support and develop the dates sector.
The organization of this exhibition comes within the framework of the state’s keenness to support and develop the Egyptian date industry in order to achieve high added value, enhance exports and increase job opportunities, so that Egypt remains in its global leadership position in this promising agricultural and industrial sector.
Egypt ranks first in the world in date production, with 19% of global production, and first in the Arab world, with 24% of Arab production, with a total of more than 16 million palm trees producing about 1.8 million tons of dates.
