Astronomical observation stations recorded the passage of a coronal mass ejection across the Earth this morning, Friday, November 7, 2025, accompanied by a sudden geomagnetic pulse with an intensity of 40 nanotesla, according to the Canberra Geomagnetic Field Observatory in Australia.

A solar storm hits the Earth and affects the magnetic field today

According to the Astronomical Society in Jeddah, monitoring data showed that the speed of the solar wind reached about 800 kilometers per second, and fluctuations in the Earth’s magnetic field are expected to continue during the coming hours, which may affect electricity networks, navigation systems, and communications, especially in areas near the poles.

Experts have warned that the current geomagnetic storm may cause fluctuations in electricity supply on long transmission lines, in addition to temporary disturbances in GPS and satellite systems, while the northern lights (aurora borealis) are likely to appear in high and medium latitude regions in bright and varied colors.

This event is a familiar natural phenomenon known as a coronal mass ejection, which is a huge cloud of plasma and magnetic fields emanating from the Sun at high speed, and when it collides with the Earth’s magnetic field, sudden changes occur like the pulse recorded today.

Based on these developments, a warning of an active geomagnetic storm was issued, calling on residents of the affected areas to monitor electrical networks and communications devices, and prepare to witness the phenomenon of the aurora borealis, which is considered one of the most amazing natural spectacles associated with solar activity.
