The delegation of the Parliamentary Division of the Kingdom of Bahrain concluded its participation in the parliamentary training seminar on “Legislative and political measures to prevent and combat the use of artificial intelligence and modern technologies for the purposes of terrorism and violent extremism,” organized by the Mediterranean Parliament Organization, during the 4th and 5th of November in the Jordanian capital, Amman.

The delegation, which includes MP Hanan Muhammad Fardan and MP Mohsen Ali Al-Asboul, along with a number of legal advisors and experts from the House of Representatives and the Shura Council, affirmed that the Kingdom of Bahrain, thanks to the lofty vision of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, the great king of the country, may God protect and preserve him, is continuing to keep pace with technical developments and encourage their use in development and security, while preventing their abuse for the purposes of extremism or violence, indicating that this trend receives support and attention. Two senior members of the esteemed government headed by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, may God protect him, through their executive efforts and strategic initiatives to enhance cybersecurity, provide an environment supportive of modern legislation, and ensure the safe and responsible use of technology.

The delegation also expressed its deep appreciation to Ahmed bin Salman Al-Musallam, Speaker of the House of Representatives and Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Parliamentary Division, for his diligent follow-up and keenness to enable the Division’s representatives to participate effectively in international parliamentary forums, stressing that this participation contributes to enriching legislative experience and enhancing the efficiency of national cadres in dealing with emerging technical issues.

In this context, the Parliamentary Division delegation stressed that participation represented a valuable opportunity to enhance the exchange of parliamentary experiences, and learn about international legislative experiences in the field of combating the misuse of modern technologies, noting the importance of enacting legislation, updating legal frameworks, and developing parliamentary oversight tools over the uses of technology and artificial intelligence, in a way that ensures transparency, preserves human values, and preserves the security and stability of societies.
