The Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Agriculture confirmed that public cleaning services continue as usual in various regions of the Kingdom, without any change in the procedures in place for providing and unloading containers, in accordance with Public Cleanliness Law No. (10) of 2019 and its executive regulations.
The Ministry explained that the effective system stipulates that commercial complexes and sites provide their own containers and unload them in accordance with the approved legal requirements, stressing that the procedures followed are fixed, and include applying the law to cases that do not adhere to the specified requirements.
In this context, the Ministry denied the validity of what is being circulated about imposing general fees on all stores and commercial activities for providing and unloading containers, indicating that the aforementioned procedure concerns a specific case of one commercial complex on Budaiya Street, regarding which the Northern Region Municipality took legal measures after sending six notifications for non-compliance with the requirements.
The Ministry indicated that the rest of the complexes on the same street, and in various governorates, are committed to applying the law and providing containers in accordance with the approved controls.
The Ministry added that municipalities continue to monitor the commitment of commercial sites to provide their own containers, and in the event that any violation is detected, the applicable legal measures are taken to ensure the preservation of public cleanliness and the civilized appearance in various areas and facilities.
The Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Agriculture stressed that maintaining public cleanliness is a shared responsibility that requires the cooperation of official bodies, business owners, and community members, calling on everyone to adhere to the provisions of the Public Cleanliness Law, provide containers designated for collecting waste, and adhere to disposal mechanisms in a way that contributes to enhancing cleanliness, preserving the environment, and public health in the Kingdom of Bahrain.
The Ministry concluded by emphasizing the continuation of efforts to develop municipal services and raise the efficiency of the hygiene system in a way that meets the needs of various regions and enhances the quality of life for citizens and residents.
