The Bahraini Basketball Federation continues its efforts to promote the game of 3×3 basketball, which is witnessing unprecedented interest in the Kingdom. The Federation announced the recruitment of international expert Jasmina Juras from Serbia to present an advanced workshop for Bahraini referees during the period from 16 to 19 November in cooperation with the International Basketball Federation (FIBA), coinciding with the holding of the Gulf Basketball 3×3 Championship for men and women under 21 years of age.
Yuras is considered one of the most prominent names in the world of refereeing at the level of the game in the world, as she has more than 27 years of experience, and she is an international lecturer accredited by the International Basketball Federation (FIBA). She was also the main referee in the men’s 3×3 basketball competition at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, among many major global tournaments that she participated in officiating.
In this context, Mr. Tariq Al-Arabi, Chairman of the Referees Committee of the Bahrain Basketball Federation, said that this session comes within the federation’s policy aimed at developing the refereeing system in the 3×3 basketball game, indicating that the federation pays great attention to this game, which has achieved wide spread in the Kingdom.
Al-Arabi explained that the federation’s continued interest in the 3×3 sector resulted in a qualitative leap in Bahrain’s global rankings, as the Kingdom reached 44th place globally, an achievement that reflects the great development the game is witnessing at the level of organisation, players and arbitration.
He added that hosting an international lecture of the size of Yasmina Yuras represents an important step in the process of preparing and qualifying Bahraini refereeing cadres according to the highest international standards in keeping with the great development of the game in Bahrain, stressing that the federation is keen to continue its programs to qualify referees in all technical and administrative aspects, in a way that contributes to strengthening Bahrain’s position on the continental and international arena.
