The General Secretariat of the Supreme Council for Women organized an awareness program on “The importance of breast cancer prevention, early screening, and available treatment options” in cooperation with the Bahrain Oncology Center, in the presence of a number of members and representatives of women’s associations and committees, in addition to members of the Youth Committee of the Supreme Council for Women.
The program came within the framework of the Secretariat’s efforts aimed at promoting a culture of healthy, preventive lifestyles to ensure the quality of life of women and families in Bahraini society, and coinciding with the month of October, which is internationally designated to highlight ways to prevent breast cancer, treatment tools, and the physical and moral rehabilitation of those afflicted with it.
Dr. Nouf Al-Shaibani, Consultant in General and Reconstructive Surgery, Dr. Maha Al-Sindi, Consultant in Medical Oncology, and Dr. Iman Abdulaziz, Breast and Reconstructive Surgery at the Bahrain Oncology Center, lectured in the program.
The program addressed several topics, including introducing the risk factors that cause breast cancer, the importance of early detection in raising cure rates and improving the quality of life, in addition to reviewing the latest diagnostic methods and treatments available, methods of prevention and following a healthy lifestyle. The program also witnessed an interactive session to answer the attendees’ questions, provide practical advice for self-examination and periodic follow-up, and provide an overview of the Royal Medical Services Center for Women’s Health.
