Next November, Aswan Governorate is preparing to host the activities of the second edition of the “Aswan Toshka Agricultural Conference and Exhibition,” one of the most prominent agricultural events in Upper Egypt, with the participation of more than 50 local and international companies working in the fields of fertilizers and agricultural fertilisers, greenhouses, vegetable, fruit and palm nurseries, and modern irrigation systems.

Dr. Ahmed Ghallab Mohamed, former president of Aswan University and head of the conference, confirmed that organizing the exhibition for the second year in a row reflects the state’s keenness to enhance agricultural awareness among farmers and support its trends towards achieving food security and expanding the agricultural area. He pointed out that the event comes within the framework of introducing major national projects such as Toshka Agricultural and Sanabel Sono, and emphasizing their role in supporting Egyptian agricultural exports to Arab and African markets.

Ghallab added that the exhibition has become a real platform for agricultural innovation and the exchange of experiences between investors, farmers and decision-makers, explaining that it represents a window to highlight the country’s efforts in achieving sustainable development and reconstructing the desert.

The conference president indicated that the activities of the second session will witness specialized scientific participations dealing with the latest sprinkler, drip, and pivot irrigation systems, and learning about projects to develop canal networks using locally manufactured pipes, in addition to presentations by solar energy and clean agriculture companies that represent the future of agriculture in Egypt.

Ghallab explained that the scientific program of the conference includes practical sessions and workshops that review successful experiences in major agricultural projects implemented by the state and the private sector, while discussing agricultural investment opportunities in Upper Egypt, especially Gulf investments that contribute to supporting agricultural development.

The conference will also discuss the expansion of the cultivation of crops with high economic feasibility, and proposed solutions to the problem of nitrogen fertilizer shortage, in addition to reviewing the opportunities available for growing plants suitable for Aswan’s environment, thus enhancing the governorate’s position as a pioneering model in sustainable agriculture and desert reconstruction.
