Spoiled meat and poultry were seized and 330 various reports were issued

The Supply Directorate in Assiut Governorate, in coordination with its sub-departments, launched intensive catering campaigns in a number of governorate centers, targeting municipal, tourist and French bakeries, commercial shops, markets, warehouses, butane depots and gas stations, in addition to catering operators and “My Association” projects.

This comes in implementation of the directives of Major General Dr. Hisham Abu Al-Nasr, Governor of Assiut, to intensify monitoring and ration campaigns in various parts of the governorate, to ensure the extent of establishments’ compliance with ration laws and decisions and to ensure that support reaches those who deserve it.

Engineer Khaled Muhammad Ahmed, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Supply in Assiut, explained that the campaigns were carried out in cooperation with Lieutenant Colonel Muhammad Rashwan Al-Zaidi, Head of Supply Investigations, and Lieutenant Colonel Ahmed Abdel Karim, Undersecretary of the Administration, and resulted in the issuance of 330 various reports.

In the field of markets, 143 kilograms of meat, chicken, liver, and meat products unfit for human consumption were seized, as well as 175 kilograms of kunafa and 23 kilograms of unfit mushabak, in addition to the seizure of expired food commodities, a gas station for disposing of 3,843 liters of diesel, and a catering merchant for collecting 200 kilograms of sugar and 144 bottles of catering oil.

Also, 57 reports were issued for not announcing the prices of butane cylinders, 14 reports of closing butane warehouses, 11 reports of selling at excessive prices, 7 reports of not keeping an inspection record, and 6 reports of irregular registration in the 21 petroleum register, in addition to a report of a warehouse’s disposal of 100 small-sized cylinders.
The reports also included 8 reports of closed ration merchants, 6 reports of failure to announce the prices of ration items, 13 reports of selling cigarettes at more than the price, 4 reports of shops operating without a license, and 26 reports of failure to announce prices in shops, cafes, and restaurants.

In the field of bakeries, the Directorate issued 176 reports for municipal bakeries, including violations of underweight, poor specifications, lack of cleanliness, and the absence of a data plate or scale, in addition to reports of closure with iron locks, partial cessation of work, disposal of quantities of flour, and failure to deliver cash to citizens.

The Undersecretary confirmed the continuation of intensive campaigns in all centers, in implementation of the directives of the political leadership and the Ministry of Supply, to control markets, deter violators, and ensure the availability of goods at the prescribed prices for citizens.
