The delegation of the Parliamentary Division of the Kingdom of Bahrain participated in the closing of the 216th session of the Governing Council of the Inter-Parliamentary Union, which was held in the city of Geneva in the Republic of Switzerland, as part of the meetings of the 216th General Assembly of the Union, with wide participation from parliamentary delegations from various countries of the world.
During the closing session, the Governing Council reviewed the reports of the permanent and specialized committees, in addition to the results of the dialogues and activities held within the framework of the work of the Union’s General Assembly, which addressed pivotal topics related to gender equality, women’s empowerment, supporting youth, promoting democracy and human rights, in addition to topics related to confronting environmental challenges and climate change, in addition to discussing joint initiatives and projects between the Union and parliaments.
